        Logic Circuits
  • The Picosecond Advantage:
Signals from ECL and PECL logic ICs are specified to be terminated into 50 Ohm returned to a termination voltage (VTT) which depends on the logic family. (Please refer to the table below.) Most test instrumentation, including digital sampling oscilloscopes have input impedances of 50 Ohm to ground, making it difficult to measure ECL or PECL signals. Our Model 5623 ECL/PECL Terminator solves this problem.

    Description:
The Model 5623 ECL/PECL Terminator is a DC biased 50 Ohm attenuator that provides 50 Ohm impedance returned to VTT and delivers an attenuated and level shifted output signal to 50 Ohm ground based instrumentation. The output levels are safe to apply directly to sampling oscilloscopes. It has a flat frequency response up to 8 GHz and a risetime of <20 ps. It is ideal for testing ECL or PECL logic circuits up to 4 Gb/s. The Model 5623 requires a DC bias voltage (VDC). It does not contain a voltage regulator and its termination voltage, VTT, is 0.82*VDC. It can be used for either ECL or PECL logic circuits.
