  • The Picosecond Advantage:
Our Model 5935 Low-Pass Risetime Filters are designed for use in test and measurement, high speed digital networks, and telecom systems. These filters may be used as either risetime or low-pass filters. Our filters are designed to have the best possible transient response.

    Description:
PSPL risetime/low-pass filters use a proprietary, absorptive filter design that have frequency responses similar to those of a 4th order Bessel-Thomson filter.

However, traditional Bessel-Thomson filters work by reflecting stop-band frequencies. This behavior can cause multiple reflections, bit error rate problems, and eye diagram degradation. In contrast, since PSPL filters work by absorption they have excellent impedance matches with very good return loss, both within and above the filter pass band.

The model 5935-12.5GHz has a 27 ps risetime (12.5GHz -3dB frequency) and is available with 2.92 or 2,4 mm connectors.

The characteristics of this quasi-Gaussian filter are described in AN-7a, “Low-Pass Risetime Filters for Time Domain Applications”.
